We have lots of camps, but this one is special for me…(it’s my kids’)

We are gearing up for Benji’s school camp. We got more than half of the kids from 3rd to 8th. That is great numbers! Anyway, we need your prayers. About half of the kids come from Christian homes, the other half do not. There are 4 girls, sisters, who will be going. They come from a broken home. Their step-mother is a “witch”. Two years ago, a boy tripped and fell at camp. The girls started blaming the 4 sisters, saying they cast a spell…Now the other girls in the school kind of turn their backs on the sisters. I do believe Mari Elena got one or two to accept Christ. But I don’t know how they are doing. But, pray for them. (Cristal, Jessica, Dana, and Monserat). Thanks.

Blessings to you all this year. Thank you for your constant prayers and offerings! We have big hopes for the new year! We thank you for your help in our work. Our work? – Your work! The Lord’s work! As we all hope for the coming of our King!

I have been missing you all. It was especially hard when I got your Christmas cards. Seeing you made my heart ache for Alaska and our friends in the states.

We want to say thank you for your perseverance and commitment to Bolivia. There are so many places in the world you could pick and choose from but you have been a part of severing in Bolivia now for almost 15 years.

You have been faithful in your prayers and obedient in your offerings to help us continue to serve in Bolivia. You have seen us through the bad and the good: You have prayed for us through constant intestinal illnesses, stolen cars, marches, strikes, water crises s, visas, fires, political moves to take over camp, threats, home sickness, and the list goes on. Thank you for your faithfulness. Perseverance. Obedience!

I do have a new years list of prayer requests. But before I list these. Please know we can’t do it without God. Please know we need you to lift us up before God on these hopes and dreams. That we need you to ask God to bless us, his workers with renewed hope and love. (Eric’s tools were stolen during New Years holiday from a locked shed, they had a baseball that rolled under the gate while playing baseball and a lady drove by, snatched it up as they were trying to cross the road to pick it up. Camp bought car at Christmas and the police claimed it was a stolen car and kept it -it is a long story.) We are discouraged.

I was born in a small town, in the southern “Bible Belt”. We could leave our bikes on the side of the road for a week and nothing would happen to them. Can you imagine what goes on in my idealistic mind when Bad things happen? Discouragement! It is probably good that I am a red head!

Please lift us up. That the Fruits of the Spirit will blossom inside of us and we will be full of love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, kindness, gentleness, and self-control. That hatred and discord will be washed away in a flash!

Our camp hopes this year are: To complete the orphanage. The money is with IOU Ministries. But there is a paper that has to be completed before the work can continue. This has proven to be a problem. Supposedly it has been completed, the lawyer just has had no time to “pick it up…”? We don’t truly know.

We hope to partner with the local church in Candalaria and work with the Senior Citizens of the area. It is an unfair and hard life for the elderly here and this seems a fun and a correct mission opportunity for us. We hope to take care of the orphans with the orphanage and the widows of the area at church. In doing this, our hope is to bring peace for us while we are working at Camp. We have some ideas on how this will work but we are unsure how it will all unfold.

Partner with us in prayer for our teen and youth volunteers. That our base of volunteers will grow this year and that we will have a larger number of youth to call for camps.

Wisdom for the team who runs camp.

The new camp in the jungle lands. That we have the funds, we could use a team to help us raise some buildings and do other work too.

Please pray for peace with the camp and the public. That the 25 year fight to get the papers legalized, will finally come out in our favor.

Please pray for us on a personal level. That the materials will be available to complete the house. (There is no cement right now – you have to get up at 4 am, stay in line and hope to get 4 or 5 bags. We need about 100. — The trees to build the house with are supposed to be brought down this week, we’ve waited for 8 months, we’ll see.).

That the house will be a safe place for us to live.

That our 5 children will be better people for the challenges we face down here. That they will choose God and keep his commandments. The oldest seems to be affected most by the unjustness. May God use this to grow him to be a man like Daniel!

That we will be healthy this year and a blessing to the King.

Well, We thank our God for your perseverance in serving him. And us. Because of you, we can make it! We once again this year have enough. We have because you are faithful to share each month. Thank you.

We would welcome a team to come down to help build the jungle camp. Singles or groups are welcome!

Our beater broke down. Right now we live in town and public transportation is abundant. But when we move out of town we will need a more reliable car. The Land Rover is great but Eric will need to take it out to camp while we run to school in something else.

The government had to lower the gas prices again. But not all the people lowered their prices for the people. They say they have to recoup what they spent when everything went up. Sugar went up. People are hiding it. That makes bread go up. Well, its still a mess but now it isn’t such a crisis as it was.

Pray for our family in the states that they will continue to be healthy. That we have no reasons to worry about rushing home to take care of family matters.

Blessing from us to you in the New Year! and Thank you so much for your prayers.

If you give special gifts for special reasons, please drop us an e mail. Such as, “This money is for the orphanage, or the Senior Center, or a new car, cement or whatever.” If nothing is noted, we will use it as we feel it is best.

Urgent request. A bad man, leader of the neighboring village came to camp demanding 100 bags of cement (900 dollars worth) for his community or he would do harm to camp and those going to camp and block the roads….Today we got a call from the cement agency nearby and they wanted to make sure we were going to pay for 50 bags for the community because they were there saying to bill us. We luckily got the call and denied the purchase. Tomorrow Jose Luis will go to camp to talk to the man. He has quite the history (jail, drugs, abuse etc) so I am so surprised he is a leader again. I will send a letter explaining better tomorrow. Please pray! It would be appreciated.
